About our Founder Marty Harlee founded First Trust Financial in 1994. With his extensive knowledge of the mortgage, banking, and finance industries, Marty has helped more than 20,000 people on the path to home ownership. Marty is a well-known and reputable master of the mortgage industry. If he can’t do it, it can’t be done!
President and CEO, Marty Harlee, founded the company in 1994 as a small start-up in the basement of his home. At that time, he had worked for other large mortgage lenders but one day decided to quit his comfortable career as a loan officer to start his journey as an entrepreneur. Marty credits his sudden move to the discrimination he witnessed as a loan officer in the financial industry. He wanted to start a firm that gave everyone a fair chance at financial freedom and buying a home, hence, the company’s slogan, “giving you the second chance you deserve.”
Marty is a licensed broker in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. Operating under laws governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and Equal Opportunity Act, First Trust Financial has made a name for itself in the community as a trusted business and source for financial education. Marty is a life-long Baltimore resident and a graduate of Virginia Union University. He is a beloved husband, and father of five.
